In the first of the four branches of the Mabinogion is the tale of Cwawl who is persuaded to play the game of ” Badger in the Bag ” as part of a classic love triangle saga. He is tricked into climbing into a bag where upon his rivals men set about him with sticks beating the bag with a screaming Cwawl trashing about inside agreeing to leave Rhiannon alone and not to exact any revenge on Pwyll the Princ of Dyfed
